The chair occupied by Josh Lewin for the better part of the last decade in the Texas Rangers' TV booth now has a new occupant.
According to ESPNDallas.com's Richard Durrett, the Rangers are all set to announce John Rhadigan as the new play-by-play man for the defending AL champion Rangers. Rhadigan will join long-time Rangers' analyst and former player/general manager Tom Grieve for Texas Ranger broadcasts.
I like the move, and I like Rhadigan, who's been a stalwart on Rangers' pre- and post-game shows, as well as other Fox Sports Southwest broadcasts.
It'll be hard to fill the void in my heart left by Lewin, however. I started really, really following the club back in 2004 and Lewin was the man who brought the game's into my TV set each and every night. Some people, I don't think, didn't care for his over-the-top style at times. I, however, loved it. You could sense a true passion from him and it always felt like he really cared about the guys on the field and in the dugout, as well as the outcome.
Here's hoping that Rhadigan can bring that same type of energy to the booth.
